Learning to Listen (2020) is a series of three garments that embody and celebrate the landscape that raised me in North-Western Ontario. This series is infused with memories of my youth and the relationships I formed with the surrounding beings. Through this project, I have discovered the vitality of being present and attentive when gathering materials and the significance of preserving patience and mindfulness in my approach to utilizing the resources gifted to me. The process of building a connection with the plants involved in this project taught me to create clothing with intention, care, and love. While wearing them, I am reminded of how I am and always will be rooted in the land I grew up on.
